A note from the webmaster: Nan is extremely busy right now, working on Camille Claudel
and other projects. She'll be back to answer your questions soon, and we also plan to post a
new Letter From Nan. In the mean time, she asked me to answer this question...
From Brooke in California:
I am a high school thespian and ever since seeing The Scarlet Pimpernel at the Music Circus
in California, I have become absolutely obsessed with it. I have been searching everywhere to
buy a copy of the script used in the musical. Is this possible to obtain? I would love to get a
copy just to read and add to my Scarlet Pimpernel collection. I think that The Scarlet Pimpernel
is brilliant, and I absolutely adore the lyrics and the dialogue. It is my favorite musical, and
I love everything about it. I am playing the CD as I send this. Nan Knighton is a gifted
genius!

Hello Brooke,
Many thanks for the note and for the kind words, Nan does appreciate them. While the
complete script (and score) of some musicals are published for sale, this tends to be the
exception rather than the rule. Unfortunately, Pimpernel has not been published yet, and
I don't know of any plans to do so.
On occasion, a copy of the script will turn up at a special theater auction. These usually
come from someone in the cast or crew of one of the Broadway runs of the show or the national
tour. One of these might turn up at another auction, such as eBay. Some are even signed by the
creators of the show or various performers, but the details will vary with each. The prices can
get quite high on these auctions as well, due to their rarity.
If the script is ever published and released, I'll post about it here on the site.
All the best,
Peter
