From Marcus in New York City:
As a big fan of your "Portrait of Jenny" with Marren, may I ask as to what stage of
development both "Snapshots" and "Open House" are in? Thank you!
Thursday, 18 March 2004
Dear Marcus,
Thanks so much for your question. I should tell you right away that I did not do "Portrait of
Jenny" with Howard Marren. I can't remember who wrote the words, but it may have been Susan
Birkenhead, as I know she also did a lot of work with Howard. As for your question about
"Snapshots" and "Open House", please refer to my
answer to Jenny's letter posted on February
12th, which goes into more detail about both of these shows. As I mention there, "Snapshots" is
really sitting on the back shelf right now, but I hope that within the year, Howard and I might
be able to get back to work on "Open House". We worked on it for over 5 years back in the early
90's, but it really needs an overhaul. My best hope for it would be a major reading or workshop
by 2006. Howard and I have to mesh our schedules as I've got "Camille" coming up and he's very
busy with his new musical "Valentino".
Thanks for your question, and I know Howard will be pleased to hear you're a
big fan of "Portrait of Jenny".
Best,
Nan
