Dear Friends,
I have no idea whether or not other websites list the charities to which they contribute, but I wanted to do it. I'm not a proselytizer and I hate guilt tactics - I only list these charities for your interest, in case any of you are looking for worthwhile causes to support. As you'll notice, most of the charities involve animals. I particularly support institutions such as C.C.I., The Guide Dog Foundation and Puppies Behind Bars because these groups couple the care of dogs with the care of people in need. As soon as I have a free block of time, I plan to have my own dog Gracie certified as a "therapy dog." Gracie loves people and the Border Collie in her (she's a mix) really seems to want a job. So, l'd like to take her to visit children in hospitals, older people in nursing homes, etc. since I think it will bring a lot of joy on all sides. I only recently found out about Puppies Behind Bars, an organization which lets prison inmates train puppies to be companion dogs for the handicapped. There are other groups such as Best Friends (where all "discarded" animals can live their lives out peacefully) and The Gorilla Foundation (home of Koko, who speaks sign language) which I have supported for a long time. At any rate, the following is a list of organizations which do a lot of good for the world, so, if you are looking for a charity, one of these would be my recommendation.
